  2. Children’s weight status was classified as normal weight, overweight, or obesity according to age- and sex-specific international cut-offs for children. Foreign background: parent and both grandparents born abroad, or parent born in Sweden and both grandparents born abroad. Among the parents with foreign background, the average time spent in Sweden were 23 and 21.6 years for mothers (n = 12) and fathers (n = 11), respectively. The parents’ weight status was classified as normal weight, overweight, or obesity according to the World Health Organization’s reference values for BMI. Parental characteristics are baseline values. Income data is missing for one mother
