Adjusted odds ratios of the number of perinatal events classified as an early neonatal death (live birth followed by infant death occurring within 24 hours of birth) versus classified as a fetal death by three control groups and 31 individual hospitals with at least 60 such combined events during the study period. A = reference group of birth events in counties with small numbers of births. B = birth events that did not occur in a hospital. C = birth events in other hospitals in counties where one of the 31 individual hospitals was located. 1 – 31 = individual hospitals with ≥60 birth events during the study period. * = significantly different from the reference group (A).
